The Murf Gigi: The Perfect Electric Beach Cruiser
If you’re looking for an electric bike that combines classic beach-cruiser style with modern e-bike performance, the Murf Gigi is one of the newest bikes we’re excited about at Cecil’s Cyclery.
Designed in the spirit of Southern California coastal riding, the Gigi is comfortable, simple to operate, and built for the kind of riding we love around Newport Beach — cruising the boardwalk, riding around town, heading to the beach, or simply getting outside.
Murf describes the Gigi as its classic cruiser designed for stylish, effortless coastal rides. watch VideoA Little History Behind Murf Electric Bikes
Murf Electric Bikes has genuine Southern California roots. The company was founded in San Clemente in 2016 by Josh Jones and was named after his dog, Murf.
The original idea came from surfing. Jones and his friends wanted an easier way to get to surf spots without dealing with parking or spending all their energy pedaling before they even reached the water. What started as a practical solution for surfers eventually developed into a complete line of electric bikes built around the Southern California lifestyle.

That background is one of the reasons we think Murf fits Cecil’s so well. These bikes were created around many of the same things our customers enjoy — beaches, neighborhoods, coastal roads, and getting around town without always getting in the car.
Meet the Murf Gigi
The Gigi takes that original beach-cruiser concept and gives it a clean, approachable design. Its low step-through frame makes getting on and off easy, while the upright riding position and 26" x 2.125" tires are designed around comfortable everyday riding.
It also comes with a color-matched front basket, fenders, and integrated rear rack, giving the bike plenty of everyday utility without losing the classic cruiser look. Brown saddle and grip accents complete the retro-inspired design.
Plenty of Electric Power
Behind the classic styling is a modern electric drivetrain.
The Gigi features a 500-watt motor powered by a 52V, 15Ah, 780Wh battery. Riders can choose from five levels of pedal assist depending on how much help they want from the motor.
Murf estimates a range of approximately 30–60 miles per charge, although actual range varies with terrain, rider weight, speed, and how much pedal assist or throttle is used.
Class 2 or Class 3
The bike can be configured between Class 2 and Class 3 modes.
Use the thumb throttle or pedal assist up to 20 MPH.
Pedal assist can take the Gigi up to 25 MPH, with the throttle disabled.
Simple by Design
One feature we particularly like is the Gigi's single-speed drivetrain.
There’s no complicated gear shifting to worry about. Combine that with five levels of electric assist and you have an e-bike that's easy to understand and easy to ride.
Murf specifically positions the single-speed setup as a straightforward, lower-maintenance approach to everyday riding.
For stopping power, the Gigi uses hydraulic disc brakes. It also includes an integrated off-road-style headlight along with an integrated rear brake and tail light for increased visibility.
Murf Gigi Specifications
The current Gigi weighs approximately 60 pounds and has a total weight capacity of 250 pounds. Murf recommends it for riders roughly 4'11" to 6'2", with adjustments available through the seat and handlebars.
The bike carries an IPX6 water-resistance rating and is compliant with UL 2849 and UL 2271 standards.

Why We Like the Gigi at Cecil’s
We see a lot of different electric bikes at Cecil’s Cyclery, and not everyone is looking for the biggest motor, widest tire, or most complicated drivetrain.
Sometimes you just want a really good-looking electric cruiser that's comfortable, easy to ride, and has enough range and power for the places you actually want to go.
For beach communities like Newport Beach, Balboa Island, and Corona del Mar, we think it hits a particularly nice sweet spot between a traditional beach cruiser and a modern electric bike.
The Murf Gigi Is Now at Cecil’s Cyclery
Cecil’s Cyclery is now a Murf Electric Bikes dealer, and the Gigi is one of our new favorite electric beach cruisers.
If you're local, come into our Balboa Island store to see the Gigi and take a closer look. If you're outside Newport Beach, you can also purchase from Cecil’s online and have your new Gigi shipped directly to you.
